How to Set YouTube Videos Title,Description and Tags
Title,
Your title is the most important
piece of information you will provide about your video.
Titles contain valuable information
to help viewers find your videos in search results. When you create video
titles, it’s a good idea to include keywords your audience is likely to use
when looking for videos like yours.
You want to make sure the title of
your video is relevant and you should keep in mind what people might be
searching for. You do not want the title to be vague or difficult for someone
to figure out what your video is about.
The title is what Google values the
most when ranking your video in the search results page.
Description
Descriptions can convey valuable
information that helps viewers find your videos in search results and
understand what they will be watching. Well-written descriptions with the right
keywords can boost views and watch time because they help your video show up in
search results.
Possible actions you can take:
Give an overview of your video
using natural language -- not just a stream of keywords.
Put the most important keywords
toward the beginning of your description.
Identify 1-2 main words that
describe your video and feature them prominently in both your description and
title.
Use Google Trends and AdWords
Keyword Planner to identify popular keywords and their synonyms. Including
these terms can help you maximize traffic from search.
Avoid irrelevant words in your
description because it creates a poor viewing experience and may violate
YouTube policies.
Tags
Tags play more important role for
making your videos searchable on YouTube and Google. You can used four types of
tags in your video using keywords :
1. Specific Tags: These are
one-word keywords that represent the topic at hand. If YouTube gives you
pre-filled suggestions that are essentially what you want, then use those, but
also use the same words in a generic way.
2. Compound Tags: These are
multiple-word tags. Many YouTuber just copies the title and uses it as a tag,
leaving out conjunctions and prepositions (such as “of,” “in,” “and,” etc.),
because YouTube ignores these words.
3. Generic Tags: These are words
like how-to, tutorial, and vlog. YouTube offers suggestions, so use them.
4. Misspellings: Many YouTubers
misspells words on purpose because people search for these words.
Additionally:
- You can only use 500 characters in your tags.
- Do not use misleading tags as this process will end up working against you in the search algorithm
- YouTube uses the meta information to do a quick assessment of your video, then it ignores your meta data. However, when the meta data is updated, it can help you in search after a few weeks when YouTube inventories the data again.
